3 January 2013, Friday

I was practicing with a 7 and 9 iron golf club and a 3H golf club. So far, i know where i am still weak in: back swing, twisting the hips, and front swing. The impact of the ball is good and so is my balance and stand. I was able to practice and now i can see some improvements because now my back swing is straighter, not as flat. My power is also stronger because my hips are moving stronger, synchronized with the swing of my arms. Because of this, i am shooting further - about 100m and it is more accurate to the target point. I learned that the more smaller the golf club is, the more difficult it is to hit the ball. This is because the grooves are angled smaller, thus, making it harder to scoop the golf up. I had difficulties using the 7 iron at first, but with practice, i am able to control it better. Using the 3H was also difficult, because i had to accurately hit the ball at the bottom of the ball and above the tee. I would sometime hit the tee or the top of the ball instead - making the shooting inaccurate. But with practice, i am starting to hit the ball properly. I aim to continue practicing until i can shoot further and beautifully, without mistakes or difficulties.

18 October 2013, Friday

Today was not as hot as last weeks practice, and i was not so tired, which means i was able to concentrate and focus better, and this made my swing and ball impact so much better! I was able to make strong my left arm and relaxed my right arm, my hips are twisting more and my knees are not as opened as it was before. My back was supporting because it was firm and straight, this made me be able to swing straight. My hit was much stronger, now that i have my left arm doing the hitting and my hips twisting properly. I used the 7 and 9 iron most, and i also used the 5H club, just to get practicing. I'm getting more clear shots than i had before, and i am hitting about 100m already! I hope i can keep this up, i'm doing so much better than i was before, and i hope i can keep improving!

11 October 2013, Friday

My swing got so much better, but because of the very hot weather, i was not able to focus well and this resulted in weak distances. But for me right now, the most important thing was to be able to hit the ball, not how far it goes. I usually use a 7 or 9 iron club, but today, reaching the last 20 balls, i was able to use the 5Hybrid (5H) golf club! This was exciting because i've never used this club before. It looks hard, but i was able to hit the ball with this club. However, there are some tricky parts using this club; i had to hit the ball not too high and not too low, perfectly in the middle of the ball, otherwise, it would not be a clear shot. For the first few tries, i hit the ball too low, so it did not go properly. I tried hitting the ball higher, but it ended up hitting the ball too high. Finally, i was able to hit the ball properly at the centre of the ball. I hope i am able to keep this up. What i learned from today was you never know until you try. I used to find the hybrid clubs intimidating, i would always try to avoid it. But it turns out, it was not as hard as i thought, in fact, i was able to get a hold of it. This activity requires lots of patience, focus and concentration. I used to always want to hit the ball far and i would always want to do it fast and with full power. But i realized, with that in mind, i am never going to get it right. Golf requires patience and a clear mind. I need to always focus on the ball and not on something else. I also need to concentrate and be able to control my entire body because every movement needs to be synchronized and balanced. I really enjoy this activity and i hope my skills in focusing and concentrating, as well as being patient, would certainly improve.

3 October 2013, Thursday

My swing was horrible today, i could not focus and concentrate, and i realized it was because i was too tired and it was because of the very hot weather! So next time, i should play when i am not too tired and when the weather is just cool enough to play. My back swing was horrible, so was my left arm, my hips and my back. The trick to the swing is to make sure that the strength came from the left arm, not the right. What i always do is have my strength on my right arm, and make weak my left. My hips should be twisting, but i keep swaying my hips to the right. My back should also be stiff straight and bent forward, but my back sometimes tends to get hunched instead of being straight. There are a number of things i need to work on, and those are the most important ones. The important thing is to be able to hit the tee and the ball, how far it goes, does not matter right now.

28 September 2013, Saturday

Today was my first golf lesson, and I thought I was doing my swings properly all this time, turns out i was not. My swing was rough and was not properly timed and positioned. So, to start off, i started practicing from the basic: the half swing and half full swing. The half swing is when my legs are right next to each other and not far apart. My swing is not stretched up high, but about the same length as my knees. The reason for this was so that i will be able to hit the ball, because how far it goes is not the main focus. The half full swing is when my legs are shoulder length apart but my swing goes as far as my knees. This is also to make sure i am able to properly hit the ball first. I must say, golf was not as easy as i thought, and it was certainly tiring. This was a new challenge for me, especially when i have to start all over again, even though i've played golf before. I also had no idea that half swings existed until today, so this is really great for me.
